The competition is back – AMD’s Radeon RX 6000 series has been unveiled – release date, specs, price, and performance

AMD has taken the wraps off its RX 6800, RX 6800 XT, and RX 6900 XT graphics cards, and they might just be Nvidia-worriers.

It’s been a while since AMD Radeon build a high-end graphics card. In fact, the last AMD’s graphics card that could of beat Nvidia’s cards was the Radeon R9 290X. But now, AMD is back in the game with a new Radeon series that will try to beat Nvidia RTX 3000 series.

The plan is simple – a 50 percent improvement in electrical efficiency over the previous generation. RDNA2 is the new architecture, with RDNA being the previous one, the one that appeared in the RX 5700XT.

In addition to AMD’s new advanced architecture, there are other steps taken in order to improve the traffic from the volume through the processor and the graphical memory on the video card. Infinity Cache is a caching technology in the RDNA2 architecture that enables graphics cards with only 256-bit bandwidth, but actual traffic enhancement that bypasses “traditional” 384-bit.

Along with a big improvement in the working frequencies of the graphics core, AMD claims that it has managed to surpass its estimates, and shows a performance improvement in the ratio of up to 54% to power consumption. This is a very rare improvement in the same manufacturing process of 7 nanometers.

The Radeon RX 6800 is expected to lead quite significantly in its performance over the RTX 2080 Ti, a video card that until recently was considered the best graphics card you can get. Keep in mind that compared to what we see here from AMD there is the use of SAM, AMD’s new memory caching technology. We’re probably likely to see slightly closer numbers without it, but it’s still a pretty impressive achievement.

Another card is the Radeon RX 6800 XT, a video card that may very well be the most popular choice among the new video cards.

The Radeon RX 6800 XT claims to be better than the RTX 3080, while the average power waste is also expected to drop slightly with different heat envelopes of 300W compared to 320W. AMD knows that NVIDIA’s new video card is very agile, and we are not ashamed to show us cases where there is a bypass of it over the RX 6800 XT. Still, many thought AMD would never get into this situation. There seem to be “forces” here.

And finally, “the secret weapon” of AMD – the Radeon RX6900 XT. This card will compete with the Nvidia Geforce RTX 3090, the best Geforce Graphics card Nvidia has ever developed – the RTX 3090 is a 1,500$ graphics card that no other GPU can beat it. But the New RX6900 XT will try!

When And How Much?

AMD RX 6000 release date
The first cards, the RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT will go on sale on November 18, with the RX 6900 XT coming in later on December 8. All this year, and all with some serious promise.

AMD RX 6000 pricing
The RX 6800 is tipping up with a $579 sticker price, the RX 6800 XT is going to retail for $649, and the RX 6900 XT will come in at $999.
