Bill Gates defines the huge difference between Elon Musk and Steve Jobs

In an interview with Bloomberg magazine, the founder of Microsoft addressed the differences between the two groundbreaking entrepreneurs. “Elon Musk is more of an engineer who controls everything while Steve was a genius at designing, choosing people and marketing,” he said. It’s simply not possible to compare these persons!

The multi-billionaire and the Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates opposes the comparison between Elon Musk and the co-founder of the giant Apple, Steve Jobs. In an interview with Bloomberg, Gates was asked if he thinks that Elon Musk is the “next Steve Jobs,” due to the great progress his companies SpaceX and Tesla have made in reusable rockets and electric cars.

Is Elon Musk the “next Steve Jobs”?

He didn’t really like this question… he just can see how they both can be comparable – “If you know people personally, that kind of gross oversimplification seems strange” Jobes said.
He explained that there are clear differences between the way Musk and Jobs work.
“Elon is more of a hands-on engineer while Steve was a genius at design and picking people and marketing,”.

Gates said that Musk usually talks about his demanding schedule and his hands-on attitude. For example, on a Tesla earnings call, Musk said he was literally working all day in the Tesla battery production factory. He said that during the Tesla 3 production in 2018 he was even sleeping on the floor and skipping showers to catch up with progress.

As for Jobs, he “was such a wizard at over-motivating people … I could see him casting the spells, and then I would look at people and see them mesmerized,” Gates told podcast host Dax Shepard Aug. 20.

Jobs concluded and said: “You wouldn’t walk into a room and confuse them with each other.”
