CEO of Meta (Facebook), Mark Zuckerberg, said that they are “working on bringing NFTs to Instagram in the near future” during his participation in a panel in Austin Texas.
“However,” Zuckerberg added, “I am not yet ready to announce exactly what it will look like today.”
According to a Twitter tweet by Casey Newton, who writes in the technology magazine TheVerge, Zuckerberg “hopes” that in the coming months users will even be able to create (Mint) on their own platform NFTs, from within the app.
In December 2021 a moral person, who runs Instagram, confirmed that the company is “actively exploring” the integration of NFTs in order to bring the technology to the general public.
A month later, in January 2022, the Financial Times reported that Meta was working on integrating NFTs on both Facebook and Instagram as part of the presentation of their profile picture.
Facebook and Instagram are lagging behind the social network Twitter, which has already incorporated NFTs in the profile for Premium users as early as the beginning of the year.
